The brake booster uses a stored vacuum to overcome the high fluid pressure in the braking system, and allows the driver to not put as much pressure on the brake pedal to brake. The Master Cylinder stores brake fluid that is pushed through the lines and that forces the brake pads against the disc when pressure is forced on the brake pedal.
